The
Principles Of Organics
Protect the environment
by avoiding pesticides and herbicides
therefore reducing pollution in
the soil, and food chain. Organic
Farmers promote wildlife by maintaining
hedgerows, meadows and waterways.
This encourages natural predators
to control pests rather than chemicals.
Organic farms encourage animals
to range freely outdoors on a natural
diet.

Choice?
It is with great pride
that we support and are regulated
by organisations such as the Soil
Association who lead the campaign
for organic food and farming. All
organic food is produced according
to strict organic standards. They
cover all aspects of food production.
Organic Farms are visited annually
by inspectors to check standards
are being met.
If you ask people about why they chose to eat organic food many will reply that they believe it to be more “natural” than food produced using conventional farming methods. In a world of BSC and genetically modified food, people are becoming increasingly aware of the way on which the food they eat is farmed and they are turning their attention to food that is free from certain types of food dangers. In fact, organic food farming contains the following factors which many claim are beneficial to your health:
- To date organic food is on the whole unprocessed (which means no hidden sugar, fat, salt etc)
- Organic food is prohibited from using any seed or crop which has been genetically modified. This is proving to be an important factor for many people who find the unknown health risks involved with GM produce (which remains unlabelled and untested) to be undesirable.
- Organic farming is only permitted to use seven of the thousands of artificial additives on its produce which are used in conventional farming methods.
- There is no known case of BSC in any organic beef and none of the organic cattle are allowed to be fed on commercial food processing waste
- Organic food is pesticide free. This is important when you consider that the World Health Organisation estimates that annually between 3.5 and 5m people in the world suffer pesticide poisoning.
